An error code on the display

The indoor head is reporting a fault. The code tells us where to start, so have it when you call.

It runs but barely cools

Airflow, a dirty indoor coil or blower wheel, or a refrigerant problem. All three feel the same from the sofa.

Water below the indoor head

Condensate that is not draining where it should, which is a plumbing path problem more often than an equipment one.

The outdoor unit will not run

Power, controls, communication between the units, or a failed component in the outdoor unit itself.

Ice on the lines or the coil

Airflow or refrigerant, and the ice is a symptom of the cause rather than the cause.

One zone is out

On a multi zone system, a single head that stops behaving points somewhere very different from the whole system going down.

How a ductless fault gets narrowed down

Ductless systems tend to fail in a handful of places. Airflow at the indoor head, the state of the filters and the indoor coil, the condensate path, and on the system side the refrigerant charge, the electrical components and whether the indoor and outdoor units are talking to each other. An error code, where there is one, usually points at which of those to look at first.

We diagnose before we replace parts. That means checking refrigerant pressures, electrical components and airflow, then telling you what failed and what the repair means for the rest of the system. You get the answer before the work starts.

Sometimes it is the installation, not the unit

A line set that was never vacuumed properly, a head mounted where it cannot move air, a condensate line run uphill, an undersized system that has been fighting the room since the day it went in. These are not failures in the equipment, and replacing parts will not settle them.

My mini split is flashing a code. What does it mean?

Codes are specific to the equipment and point at a subsystem: sensors, communication, refrigerant or the fan. Read us the code when you call and we will tell you what it usually indicates and what we would check.

Why is water dripping from the indoor unit?

Almost always the condensate path: a blocked or badly run drain line, or a pan that cannot clear water. It is worth acting on early, because the water ends up in the wall.

Will you work on a system another company installed?

Yes. We service and repair ductless systems regardless of who installed them.

My mini split is cooling weakly. Is it low on refrigerant?

Sometimes, but a dirty indoor coil or blower wheel produces the same symptom, and so does restricted airflow. We check the ones that cost you nothing to fix first.

Can a mini split be repaired, or does it have to be replaced?

Most faults are repairable. Age, the cost of the failed component and whether the system was sized correctly in the first place all factor in, and we will give you the honest comparison rather than defaulting to replacement.
