The short answer
If the air conditioner is blowing warm air, or the outdoor unit is a block of ice, turn it off. Running it that way can cook a compressor that was still saveable. A short wait after you switch it back on is the three-minute compressor delay, and that wait is normal. If the air is still warm after that, leave the system off.
Change a filter you can reach, and make sure the thermostat is set to cool, not fan. Then call. Rooted Mechanical finds which fault it actually is. We are based in Elkins. The work lives on AC repair. The $79 Service Call applies to the repair if you approve it. If the system is old and the estimate is the expensive kind, we will also show you replacement. You pick.
